Building a painting is creating a unique world, that when finished will call to your attention, and ask you to come inside and wander around. It asks you to suspend your disbelief for that space and time. If it’s effective then it’s a communication- regardless of the subject but dependent on you relating to it. When that happens correctly it’s a direct connection between something bigger than you and I individually, but includes us completely if only for that one moment. We don’t have to think about it for our aesthetic to hook. We just know we like it. A beautiful part of this connection is trying to justify that. I “talk” about a lot of different subjects. Sometimes the subject is obvious, but often it’s not found until you spend some time really looking at it. Its my goal to have that conversation as long as i can with the viewer, to invite them to look deeper, look longer, and feel what i feel.
